The Nutmeg Alumni Association Educational Award Fund
In 2024 Alpha Gamma Rho, Alpha Nu alumni established ‘The Nutmeg Alumni Association Educational Award’ in collaboration with our the Nutmeg Alumni Association Board and The National Alpha Gamma Rho Educational Foundation. We’d like to share a special thank you to our dedicated 1960s and 1950s alumni group for establishing and building our award fund.
The Alpha Gamma Rho, Alpha Nu, & The Nutmeg Alumni Association established the ‘Award Subcommittee’ consisting of both alumni and active members to allocate award funds for the creation of annual awards given to active undergraduate brothers. The committee determined three core award categories: Brotherhood, Academic Excellence, and Financial Need. These awards are symbolically named after elements found on the Sheaf, Sickle, Crescent, and Shield, reflecting the values and traditions of the Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity.
A total of four awards will be given annually totaling $4,000
- Two based on Brotherhood ($2,000)
- One based on Academic Excellence ($1,000)
- One based on Financial Need ($1,000)

The Sheaf symbolizes the harvest that has been provided. This award recognizes excellence in how a new member uses what has been given to him: membership in the Order of Alpha Gamma Rho. The recipient of the New Member of the Year award exemplifies dedication, initiative, and service to the chapter, demonstrating what it truly means to honor the privileges of fraternity membership.
Eligible applicants include members initiated during the Fall or Spring semester of the scholastic year. The award will be determined among active undergraduates based on their contributions and commitment to the chapter. This award reflects the chapter’s belief that kindness and reward follow those who live according to the principles of Alpha Gamma Rho.
